Bollocks! This piece was reasonably interesting and the motive of mutual understanding is a good one, but the author clearly has no idea of the politics behind the war. Russia did not 'start' this war. In fact, Russia has been under attack from NATO for decades. The Ukrainian "civil war" was a reaction to the fascist takeover of Kyiv by the Banderities in the Maidan Coup and the Russian-hating Banderites, doing NATO's bidding, started this war (of course, Washington was in the thick of it all along). For the Russians, this is existential and they have memories the last time the Americans tried to destroy Russia after the end of the USSR. Any Russian will tell this story (the Atlanticists have long since fled), but the author either did not ask or did not listen.

Much appreciated article, thanks. I made multiple trips to the then USSR from 1979-1983, several of them to participate in conversations about ending the arms race and Cold War. Long been a fan of IPPNW, thanks for your work.

The contrast between the reaction in the West to Russian "aggression" against Ukraine and Israeli genocide and ethnic cleansing of Palestinians along with naked, unprovoked aggression against multiple countries is striking and lays bare the western hypocrisy for all to see.
